Publication Studio is a maker and destroyer of books. We print and bind books on demand, creating original work with artists and writers we admire. We use any means possible to help writers and artists reach a public: physical books; a digital commons (where anyone can read and annotate our books for free); eBooks; and unique, lavish social events with our writers and artists in many cities. We attend to the social life of the book. Publication Studio is a laboratory for publication in its fullest sense — not just the production of books, but the production of a public. This public, which is more than a market, is created through any and all means — physical production, digital circulation, and social gathering. Together these construct a space of conversation, a public space, which beckons a public into being. In a time of radical change, Publication Studio is a maker and destroyer of books.
I follow the store on Tumblr, and it’s very obvious that the people working at the PUBLICATION STUDIO love art, love books, and love people. It’s rad to see a cool studio like this put out so many quality publications and collaborate with so many artists, including Israel Lund among others. If you’re looking for a super limited art book/zine, definitely hit up this store and see what they have to offer. They have stores in Portland, Berkeley, Vancouver, Toronto and Chicago…so why aren’t you flooding these stores yet?
I’m not even joking when I say they have a million books and zines to choose from. They have stacks and stacks ranging far and wide, so you’re sure to find something you dig.
abv. Edition Varie:

2. Unique in a series.
Ed. Varie is an independently owned and operated alternative gallery and art space in the East Village’s Alphabet City. Inspired by the fundamentals of open programming, Ed. Varie is dedicated to creating a space for artists. Ed. Varie fosters all forms of contemporary art, and offers a platform for established as well as emerging artists to explore new concepts and take unchartered risks in their practice. Ed. Varie supports a wide range of artists nationally and internationally, as well maintains a permanent library of limited edition art books from independent and micro-niche publishers.
Gallery, Library and all around chill in place in general would be NYC’s ED. VARIE. They have a “super secret” library of magazines from Hamburger Eyes, Book Club and others just waiting for you to get your grubby mitts all over. Their shows look sick as hell, make a note to check one out. They have featured some dope artists such as Peter Sutherland, Ye Rin Mok, and others that fit that vibe quite well.
10-4. ROGER ROGER. Morgan Tepsic is exiting the building and will be back next week for one last go. If you ever want to hit me up and ask for cool swag, throw some glitter and hot wax into the air and I’ll be there in a jiffy!
