I’ve always been a big fan of Land Art and work that features sculpture so I was instantly drawn to the work of Japanese photographer Yosuke Bandai. I love the simple structures he has built using a mixture of natural and man-made materials.
When I first saw Bandai’s work I was reminded of Iza Genzken’s sculptures, which are made using a mixture of building products, mirrored surfaces and found objects whilst the woodland images reminded me of photographer David Spero’s on-going project ‘Settlements’.
When looking at Bandai’s images you feel as if the structures have always been there, that they are part of the landscape that houses them.
I couldn’t find out much more about Yosuke Bandai, but I hope you enjoy the work as much as I do.
